The sergestid shrimp dancing in the blue sea awaits you in Donggang for your summer visit.

Donggang, Pingtung is the home of many sea delicacies with a beautiful coastline. The pinkish tiny shrimps are like cherry blossoms blooming in the sea. Visit Sakura in Donggang in summer day and enjoy a wonderful scene of the blue ocean and sky.

Introduction

The crystal-like shrimp called "花殼仔" by local fishermen was found to be the same species of the japanese sakura shrimp in 1988 and the sakura shrimp economy started to develop since then. While Donggang is the largest bluefin tuna production area in Taiwan, the production number declined as the sea resource depltes and the campaign shift focus to sakura shrimp and other sea products.

In 2014, the team collaborated with Pingtung goverment and created "Sakura", a personified figure of Sakura Shrimp as a virtual speaksman for Pingtung Bluefin Tuna Cultural Festival. She knows all about the local history of Donggang as well as the sea products.

She was given no attention for a while until she was comfirmed to be the same species of the Japanese sakura shrimp. The sakura shrimp charm on her sleeve is her true form.
